Regional Plant-Related Event

Yankton Area Master Gardener Spring Fling

“Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow—Forty Years of Gardening” is this spring’s topic. Nurseryman and Yankton Nurseries owner, Jay Gurney, and manager Kathy Weiss are presenters. Missouri Valley Master Gardeners host this annual event. They welcome all Master Gardeners and the public to the Pavilion Auditorium on the Avera Campus, W. 4th St., Yankton, March 27th, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. The event is free but donations are welcomed.

Gurney and Weiss have more than forty years of experience growing plants in this region. They will focus on today’s annual flowers and vegetables. They will talk about perennials that include patio succulents and cacti. They will show examples of trees and shrubs that grow well in this region. Plants of yesterday, such as the ones we used to grow when no one irrigated, will be a topic. They use plant care methods to give plants a boost. Plants for containers, organic pest control, and better plant locations are other topics. They’ll share tips about what to look for in a quality plant, and answer audience questions.
