Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will offer the Iowa Master Conservationist Program starting on August 29th. The program will take place at local state parks, aquatic environments, nature centers, prairies and more throughout Plymouth, Woodbury and Monona Counties, providing participants with hands-on interaction with the diversity of the state’s natural resources. The program teaches about Iowa’s natural ecosystems and the diversity of conservation challenges and opportunities that exist in the region. Graduates of the course learn to make informed choices for leading and educating others to improve conservation in Iowa.

Master Gardener

Tuesdays, August 27 – November 19 • 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Since 1979, more than 14,000 Iowans have received Master Gardener training from ISU Extension and Outreach.  The 40-hour program provides research-based education on lawn care, landscape trees and shrubs, plant diseases, plant nutrition, vegetables, fruits, houseplants, home landscape design and more.

Master Gardeners come from a variety of backgrounds. They are passionate about serving their communities and sharing gardening best practices. Master Gardeners are individuals who have taken the Master Gardener training and share their time and expertise as volunteers in community gardens, city beautification projects, farmers markets and other public service projects. It is the acquisition of knowledge, the skill in gardening, and giving back to the community that distinguishes a Master Gardener from other gardeners.
