Garden Bloggers Bloom Day–January 15th

This area of the Northern Plains rose to -2 degrees F. today; USDA Hardiness Zone 4b-5a. Indoor plants are leafy and not in bloom. Before I’m overwhelmed with the new seed catalog offers, I looked over photos from last season’s garden. Here are a few bloom photos that fit my interests in gardening.

1.             A plant with perfect blooms, such as a perennial peony shown here or roses or…

2.             A plant that promises plant pollinator attraction and delivers, such as butterfly weed. Plants re-seed each season.

3.             Sunflowers that grow well in containers, such as this one. Young sunflower plants are deer delicacies that can be grown on the deck out of reach.

4.             Dependable bloomers from a mixed seed packet that grow a mound of Zinnias

5.             Hardy perennials that survive drought and pestilence, such as Echinacea.

6.             A plant with distinctive blooms, such as this backdrop of Nicotiana, also with a mild fragrance.

We invite you to comment on favorites you will look for this season and how they fit your gardening interests. Thanks for visiting Plant Exchange blog.
